This one we think he got from running into/falling onto the raised brick hearth of our fireplace. Like I said, he's pretty quick. So we don't always see exactly what happens before we hear the cries.
This goose egg was acquired today while playing in the boys' room. You wouldn't think I was just four feet away from him when it happened. He was pulling himself up on our wooden rocking horse, but I suppose it starting rocking away from him and he came away with this:
The swelling has gone down quite a bit, but it's obviously still tender. Good thing he takes hits well. Not that we promote such things in our house. This is just how it goes.

have you noticed that the second child gets a lot more bruises then the first? Emily barely got any... But Hannah got tons! Seriously, as one bruise healed she would get another one..
I am relieved to hear that Joseph isn't the only recipient 'love' from his older brother. That goose egg is impressive! He really must be quick on all fours!

They say babies are fragile, but I see some of the bumps and bruises they take with just a little cry - and I think sometimes they are a little bit tougher than us.
Oh, wow--what a goose egg!! Jonathan always has some sort of bump or bruise on him. Sigh.
Ah. The raised brick hearth. We had one of those. Went through 5 kids until finally when my handicapped brother was born, my parents said enough and had it ripped out. Such a pain in the head for the babies! But at least it teaches boundaries. Hope he feels well soon!
Poor Rhett! Isn't it nice that babies bounce well?
