First, we had green eggs and ham for lunch.

This is not Benjamin thinking it's gross. This is him saying, "These eggs are hot."
Then he proceeded to put a whole slice of ham in his mouth. In addition to the first point, and maybe more a credit to Benjamin than to me, this lunch of green eggs and ham was consumed after he ate half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a bite of my lunch, and some milk. Some days are good because of a couple of bites of pb&j and a swig of milk, so today was excellent in the lunch department.
Our whimsical lunch was prompted by his interest in the book of the same name this morning.

He must have thought our carrots and celery needed a pre-dinner dip in a milk bath. After rinsing and wiping, there was some sort of order reestablished at our house. Or at least our dinner table.
And to make another point in my favor, I think the presence of carrot and celery sticks on our dinner table at all should count for something.

vicky, i'm so relieved (sorry) to know you have hard days as a mom too. i love looking at you and your cute kids, and i always think, vicky's got it all together. she's an awesome mom. and you are. and, yes, the carrots and celery definitely give you points.
Vicky I will cheer you on any day! Way to make a good lunch for your son and way to go Benjamin for eating(we've been having eating strikes in our house lately) and definitely a huge amount of applause for having vegetables and for not getting mad at him for what he did. You're a wonderful mom according to this little corner of the world.
What a fun "eggs and meat" kind of day! A highlight for me was watching the video of Benjamin saying "ham" and you saying "that's gross." For some reason it was hilarious! Who knew it was so hard to say the word "ham" when your mouth was full?
I love the dinner pictures! 1 thousand wonderful mommy points for having veggies, and for letting him dip them. All. :) And if the veggies eventually got eaten, you deserve a medal. :)
Thanks for posting about all this!
PS: My dad used to make "green eggs and bloody fingers" (hot dogs with ketchup.) Gross, no? He really needed sons.
You've got such cute boys! I love hearing about the funny stuff kids do.
Hey, you do rock as a mom! You made green eggs and ham--how cool is that? And not losing it is also good. And carrots are good! See, you rock :)
How creative! And it's not even St. Patrick's Day! And yes, the carrot and celery sticks definitely count for something.
You forgot one: the fact that you take pictures of your kids and write about them shows how much their mother loves them. You are a great mom! Losing it once in a while is also part of being a great mom. If you care enough and are around them enough to lose it once in a while, then you really care enough and are really there enough and THOSE TWO FACTS matter the most.
Green eggs and ham = awesome!
Veggies in milk = hilarious!
Oh, what a great post!! So many days you just have to count the good things!!!
There are days...and then there are THOSE days. All of them are precious. And yes definitely points for having veggies! Never thought about dipping them in milk :)
you get points for the veggies. My mother always tells me that children will humble anyone. Mine humble me on a daily basis. I thought I was a good parent until I had children. You are doing great!!
